Merimbula Tourism Wins Outstanding Visitor Experience Award

Merimbula Tourism Inc, which operates the Merimbula Visitor Information Centre, has been recognised with the Outstanding Visitor Experience Award at the South East Coast Business NSW Business Awards.

The award was presented at the South East Coast Business NSW Business Awards held at Bay Pavilions on Friday 4 September, recognising Merimbula Tourism’s contribution to creating a welcoming, informative and memorable visitor experience for people travelling to Merimbula and the wider Sapphire Coast.

Merimbula Tourism was named the winner from a strong field of finalists, including Murrumbateman Chocolate Co, Murrumbateman Field Days, Ocean Reach Pambula Beach, Sea Otter Australia Festival and Wild Brumby Distillery.

The award recognises not only the work of Merimbula Tourism Inc, but the contribution of its dedicated team of volunteers who give their time to welcome visitors, share their local knowledge and help people discover everything the region has to offer.

Manager Hanna Marshall said the award was a wonderful recognition of the work carried out by the organisation and its volunteers.

“We are thrilled and excited to share the celebration with our volunteers,” Ms Marshall said.

The Visitor Information Centre is all about people. Our volunteers are the friendly faces visitors meet when they arrive, and their local knowledge, enthusiasm and willingness to help make such a difference to the visitor experience.

“This award is a wonderful acknowledgement of the work our team does every day to showcase Merimbula and the Sapphire Coast and encourage visitors to stay longer, explore more and come back again.”

Merimbula Tourism Inc is a member-based, not-for-profit organisation supporting the local tourism industry while operating the Merimbula Visitor Information Centre. The Centre provides independent visitor information, local knowledge and referrals to tourism businesses, attractions, events and experiences throughout the region.

The South East Coast win now sees Merimbula Tourism Inc progress to the Business NSW State Awards, where it will represent the region in the Outstanding Visitor Experience category.

The State Awards will be held on 30 September at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney).

For Merimbula Tourism and its volunteers, the State Awards provide another opportunity to showcase the important role visitor information services play in supporting local tourism and helping visitors make the most of their time in the region.
