MAIN BEACH
Also known as Merimbula Beach, you can get two for the price of one and walk, jog or cycle all the way to the southern end - Pambula Beach.
Think long walks at low tide, playing in the surf, dog friendly zones and blue sky and water that stretches on for days! During the summer and Easter holiday periods, lifesavers are active on this beach. Often there's a wave to be had, so get the surfboard, SUP or boogie board ready.
This beach also hosts several major competitions each year: the Wave-sailing and Kite-Surfing "Merimbula Classic" in November (see our what's on page) and a Malibu Surfing Comp in May.
Access this beach from the car park off Ocean Drive next to Ford Oval and the playground on the Fishpen peninsular. Or drive little further south past the netball courts and park on Ocean Drive for the dog friendly stretch.
The beach can also be accessed opposite Merimbula Airport, you will need to park opposite the airport and walk a couple of hundred metres up over the dunes through the bushland, but you'll find a very quiet part of the beach, and possibly good waves for surfing.
In the off season and colder months, walks along this beach are frequently rewarded with spotting pods of dolphins or whales, and of course the beautiful views and sea mists the seasons bring.
