About the Event
Based on a true story, Balloon follows the Strelzyk and Wetzel families as they secretly design and construct a balloon capable of carrying eight people across the heavily guarded East German border. With the authorities closing in, every test flight, mistake and last-minute adjustment brings them closer to discovery.
A gripping story of ingenuity, courage and determination, Balloon turns an extraordinary escape attempt into a tense and surprisingly intimate thriller.
